Paul McCoy (born September 7, 1981) is an American musician and the lead singer of New Orleans hard rock band 12 Stones.

When he was born, McCoy weighed 10 lb 8 oz (4.8 kg) He grew up in Florence, Mississippi until December of 1981 when his family moved to Slidell and then Mandeville, Louisiana while in 5th grade where he stayed for the rest of his education and where his parents still live. Surgery shortly after moving to Louisiana left him with limited hearing in his left ear. A quick learner, he was listed as gifted when tested in 4th grade. A star soccer player in high school as well, but decided to pursue music as a career path instead of medicine his junior year. Being told by teachers he would amount to nothing only added fuel to the fire. He was signed to Wind-Up Records less than 15 months after his senior year of High School

McCoy has never had any formal musical training. His dad bought him his first electric guitar from a pawn shop in Jackson, Mississippi for Christmas when he was 12 years old. He was a lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist.
He was featured in the Evanescence hit "Bring Me to Life" after telling Diana and Allen Meltzer (owners of Wind-UP) that "If you cannot find anyone famous give me a call". In a magazine interview, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park said that Mike Shinoda was originally asked to be featured on the song. McCoy, along with the members of Evanescence, received a Grammy for this song.
