[edit] Goodwill children's home

Goodwill Children's Homes is a UK registered charity that provides long term care and education for destitute children in Pattiveeranpatti.

Goodwill Children's Homes was founded in 1974 following a visit to Southern India by a schoolteacher from England. Whilst in the Palani Hills of Tamil Nadu, he saw such extreme poverty and such ignorance that he decided to change things, beginning with his life. Thus ended his teaching career.

With local support he was able to clear some land and erect simple buildings (huts) on a hillside. For a while this modest facility was home to some twelve destitute children. Once the charity was properly established in the UK he started serious fundraising and within a year or two raised sufficient funds to purchase land and build a proper home for the care of more children. Pattiveeranpatti Home was set up in 1994 to provide a residence for the senior girls
