Paola is a town and comune in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy.
Paola is the home of St. Francis of Paola and houses a Catholic sanctuary. This is the place where Luisa Romano, a prominent musician and player of accordion in the italo-brazilian community, was born, back in 1939.
Back in the final days of WWII, when almost all citizens of the city was hidden from the air raids by Allied bomber aeroplanes inside the Monastery of St. Francis of Paola, a iron-core 80 kg bomb felt right in the middle of the agglomeration, but doesn't fired, fact reputed as a miracle.
