ORS Direct (orsdirect.com) was founded in 1996 and is currently headquartered in Montpelier, Vermont. The company is a pure play etail company specializing in outdoor sporting gear and equipment in several categories, including cross country skiing, telemark skiing, cycling, baby transport, camping, hiking, vehicle racks and snowshoeing.
Additionally, the company, early on, recognized a need in providing specialists dedicated in offering assistance within specific concentrations. As a result, in 1997 the company was a pioneer in the concept of niche marketing websites, whose purpose is to provide extensive knowledge and assistance to consumers within a single category. The company's current niche websites include ORS Cross Country Skis Direct, ORS Snowshoes Direct and ORS Racks Direct (vehicle rack systems).
