[edit] History

I don't think winning a game against the Knicks by a margin of 8 points would be considered a "pounding."

I think it is unfair on steve francis in this article. At the end of the day he did make the magic more exciting in the 2004-2005.

As in many wikipedia sports franchise articles, there's not nearly enough office stuff in the history part. It doesn't even say anything about when DeVos bought the team; he just appears out of nowhere giving it to his kids.205.212.73.217 02:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notable Players

I'm removing Chauncey Billups from the Notable Players section. Yes, he was on the team, but he never played a single game for them. Benq31 03:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Per Game Averages

The 2006/2007 Magic Media Guide only showed per game averages for points; no rebounds, assists, steals, field-goal percentage, or any other notable statistic. If anyone comes across these numbers somewhere, please add them. Benq31 19:54, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:OrlandoMagic10thAnniversaryLogo.gif

Image:OrlandoMagic10thAnniversaryLogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Different eras?

I'm not sure how many people will read this and give feedback, but I was reading the article like I would for the first time, and I noticed that two sections get named after Shaq, and the 2000-present (which should really be 2000-2005) section, doesn't get a special name, when I think it would be agreed upon by fans that those would be periods where it would be the Tracy McGrady (2000-2004), Steve Francis and Dwight Howard (2004-2006), and just Dwight Howard (2006-now) eras. So I was thinking the 2000-2005 section should be split into individual sections for each franchise players respective stint with the team, and either be named after that franchise player, or keep it as the years, and rename the Shaq era titles as the years he was there. Or maybe there could be a way to do both player name and years, if anyone reads this soon and has an idea to put out there, otherwise I'll just do it on my own and hope it doesn't turn into a continuous "reverting edit" problem with someone else. Tampabay721 (talk) 18:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Has Steve Francis been that important for the Magic franchise to have his own era? I believe 2004-06 should be called the end of the Mcgrady era and 2006-present the Dwight Howard era. --Crzycheetah 23:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Now that I look at all the headings I made, I can't believe I forgot to put Dwight Howard in there. I still think that Francis and Howard did share the "Face of the Franchise" role. Howard hadn't really made a name for himself at that point other than being the top pick overall. Steve Francis didn't do much for the team, but he was still one of the better players at that time, since the Magic didn't really get much better between the time McGrady was traded and before Francis was traded to the Knicks. He was important because it was put on his shoulders to fill the shoes of McGrady. Since he's the guy that was acquired for McGrady, all eyes were on him to get the job done. I'm just going to slip in Howard's name in that one heading while I remember now, since that is an important part in the history of the franchise (that I just happened to forget at the time...) Tampabay721 (talk) 04:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
The section heading has become a bit overwhelming. A shorter heading is needed and preferably include the 2005-06 season, since in those two seasons the Magic failed to make the playoffs. I am thinking maybe it will be better if we use the years only, i.e. 1989-1992, 1993-1996, etc.--Crzycheetah 05:36, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree. I just want some kind of uniformity, so the earlier sections don't just say things like "The Shaq Era" and then as we go through the years, they'll all be titled by years. Either "actual word" titles or "year" titles (for lack of better phrases) work for me. Tampabay721 (talk) 06:13, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
OK, I just did, and I think it looks a lot better. --Crzycheetah 06:45, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Good job. Now it looks more like a timeline. Tampabay721 (talk) 07:27, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
