OpenBase
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
OpenBase SQL is a relational database server software, originally developed for the OpenStep platform. First released in 1991, OpenBase is available today for several platforms, although the bulk of its users are on Mac OS X. The system supports and performs well with common access methods via JDBC and C. However, it is at its best when used in conjunction with a variety of Macintosh-based development tools like WebObjects, RealBasic and Omnis Studio.
The software is developed by a small team of developers, who hold a four-day developer conference in an exotic location each year - 2004 was held in Maui and 2005 at the Mount Washington Hotel. Each day of the conferences has a series of lecture options, with each hosted by speakers from OpenBase or the community.
