[edit] ==Cool==

Hi, Haukur Þorgeirsson, there have been edits made to the "Cool" article that I believe remedy most of your concerns. There is a debate right now concernng chart formatting right now resulting in one camp of voters objecting if the charts go one way and the other camp objecting to the article if the article stays the way it is. As this is an unresolved matter that will probably not be resolved due to opposition on both sides, would you consider changing your vote to support if other concerns have been met? OmegaWikipedia 06:19, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

You have indeed improved the article substantially. I'll reread it in its entirety tonight and reconsider my opinion. - Haukur Þorgeirsson 08:13, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Crazy in Love

Hi Omega, yes I remember the nomination and I'm sorry it failed. I've found that each time I've put something up for nomination a completely different group of people has voted on it, and what was considered good enough for my last article to get featured, is now not good enough for the next one. It's really frustrating. The references are quite likely to get mentioned but if you're fixing them, they shouldn't pose a problem. The charts are another story. I truly believe that it's a question of personal taste and because it's not policy - either official or unofficial - that basing a vote on that issue alone is not fair. If the article gets mostly supports and the objections are related to the charts only, then it's possible Raul may overlook those as not being significant. I don't know his view on the matter so perhaps asking him would be useful. There is an onus on an objector to provide a clear reason for an objection, which they often fail to do, and I think the nomination page for a particular article is the wrong place to get into a big debate but it seems to happen pretty frequently. If you really don't think the charts should be changed, I would respond to each objection with a polite, clear reply in which you explain why you feel the format you've chosen is acceptable. I don't think you have to necessarily agree with every objection - if you show yourself to be agreeable with other objections and rectify them quickly and without fuss, and remain calm and polite in the face of any discussion about the charts, you'll give yourself the best possible chance. I think the charts will be an issue depending on who decides to vote on the article. I notice you've added some more images - they may attract some comment also, so better make sure the fair use criteria are addressed to the letter. Good luck with it - I think it's a good article and I know you've put a lot into it. Rossrs 12:48, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Hey Omega, I've read through it and I think the article is very strong - I think it's somewhat better than "Cool" which I also think is very good. I think the section about live performances needs some tweaking - nothing major though. I'm not sure about the way you've referenced it in two sections. I can see what you've done but I don't understand why. I'm sure it'll attract comment and I think it should be in one section. Otherwise I'd be surprised if anyone could say anything negative about it - especially comparing it to "Cool" which was very well received. Rossrs 13:28, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

I apoligize if anything I've said or done offended you or made you upset. I was just trying to do what I felt, as a Wikipedian, I should be doing, and I may have come off as being inpersonal. I do not want to press or carry on any sort of animosity against you or anyone else, and if there are any problems found with your edits in the future, I will do my best to inform you of them without starting arguments. --FuriousFreddy 19:52, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 2000s One-hit wonders in the United States

I had to revert your edit to this article as I was unable to verify that the Pussycat Dolls have a second top 40 hit on the Billboard hot 100 (which is the reference we have been using for this article. If you have a source more authoritative or current than allmusic, please mention it on the talk page of the article. Cheers, DropDeadGorgias (talk) 15:18, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Yes, billboard.com is certainly more authoritative than allmusic! It's unfortunate that the historical data from billboard.com is pay-to-play, so that's why we've been using allmusic. They aren't that up-to-date though, so it's great that people like you watch the billboard site too. Keep up the good work! --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 15:39, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Don't Forget About Us

I see that you have reverted my edits to the chart tables at Don't Forget About Us. If you feel my edits did not improve the article, please explain why at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music/Tables for charts. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 23:10, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

In this second revert of my changes to the chart tables, you wrote in your edit summary "Ah Ok, I see...I'll take a look at that when I get the chance". Since then, you have made over fifty edits to various articles. It would be appreciated if you were to provide reasons for your reverts at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music/Tables for charts and join the ongoing discussion there. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 18:22, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
OmegaWikipedia, I again insist that it would be much appreciated if you were to join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music/Tables for charts. You wrote in the edit summary for your last revert, "that looks like a lengthy discussion..I'd like to look over it before I reply...I'll reply when I have a grasp on the discussion". Since your pledge to "look over" the discussion, you have made over a hundred edits to various articles, in addition to the fifty plus mentioned above. Please contribute to the discussion as soon as possible, as failure to do so while conducting other activities on Wikipedia at the same time may imply that you are simply refusing to comment on the issue. In any case, reverting other people's edits without discussing them is considered bad behaviour. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 16:56, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Album and single cover images

The single cover Image:Behind These Hazel Eyes.jpg is far too high resolution for Wikipedia to claim "fair use" on, as somebody could easily make a cover for an illegal CD copy of the single from it. I usually reduce the size of the album and single covers I find to 325px (maximum size of either or both dimensions) before I upload them. If you upload album and single covers in the future, please don't have them larger than 325px in any dimension. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 17:05, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hot 100

Hi Omega, I know you're a frequent editor of the Hot 100 page. In an attempt to clean up the ever-growing clutter in that article, I started to write out a revised version that concentrates more on the chart's history and policies, rather than all the trivia. Can you take a look at it? Feel free to leave any feedback or suggested changes... I'm sure there are some parts of it that I got too wordy, and I need some outside opinions about the general tone and direction of it. I'd appreciate it! -- eo 14:14, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Luxurious (song)

I don't know if you're ever going to be returning to Wikipedia, but if you do, could you attempt to help me locate the city or town where the music video for "Luxurious" by Gwen Stefani was shot? I'd appreciate it. —Hollow Wilerding . . . (talk) 01:15, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:BeyonceGrammy.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:BeyonceGrammy.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ben01 lg.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Roof.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Roof.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 03:50, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Something went wrong when I uploaded this image. I couldn't see the image and I thought the upload failed. I uploaded again, but realized the name should be a little more explanatory, so changed it. This image is indeed redundant and should be immediately deleted. Wiredcoach 22:49, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:JTTW.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:JTTW.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:Crazy In Love.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:12, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MIH.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:MIH.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
