Olivia Cenizal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Olivia Cenizal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Olivia Cenizal (October 21, 1926[1] - April 14, 2008) was a Filipino actress in films. She was regarded as one of the most beautiful actresses in Filipino cinema in the 1950's.[2]

She was born Gloria Pagtakhan Maigue in Imus, Cavite to parents Cirilo Maigue Sr. and Patrocinio Pagtakhan, into a musical family.

She was encouraged by Cirio H. Santiago to become a film actress. Her film debut was in Palahamak made in 1955. Her name was changed to Olivia because Gloria Romero was already prominent in the local cinema and she looked like Olivia de Havilland. She was twice nominated for a Famas Best Actress Award, for Desperado (1956), and Water Lily (1958). Cenizal retired from an active film career in the 1970s, though she occasionally appeared in films until the 1990s.

She had married Josefino Cenizal a composer before she entered show business. He survived her upon her death on April 14, 2008 from complications from colon disease.[2]
