O2 World is a multi-use indoor arena in Berlin, Germany that is currently under construction. It is being developed by Anschutz Entertainment Group. Once completed in 2008, it will be used mostly for ice hockey, basketball and handball matches as well as concerts. The arena will have a capacity of 17,000 people. It is to become the home of the Eisbären Berlin ice hockey club. The surrounding area will be filled with various entertainment venues including a cinema, a casino, a hotel and various bars and restaurants.[1] The arena will host the 2008-09 Euroleague Final four[2]
The name of the development became O2 World when O2 Germany purchased the naming rights from Anschutz Entertainment Group.[1]
In late 2008 the O2 World will host concerts by Elton John, Alicia Keys and Coldplay among others. In the beginning of 2009 Tina Turner is going to play two shows in the arena with seven more shows to follow in other German cities.
