[edit] Line duplication that's going on now?

It appears that, maybe as part of the new Epping-to-Chatswood line, there is a line duplication work going on beginning at St. Leonards and going through Chatswood station. I can't find mention of this in the publications by CityRail or RailCorp. Is this correct?

Amos Shapira 05:34, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

The line is only being duplicated as far south as the Mowbray Road bridge just south of Chatswood Station, to allow a turnback in between the tracks. There is no other duplication - that will be done by 2017 when the Redfern-Chatswood line will be built. JROBBO 09:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Station diagrams labelled wrongly?

It seems to me that the station diagrams on this line are wrongly labelled - I think "Down Shore" should be towards the City and "Up Shore" should be towards Hornsby. -- Danny Yee 02:39, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

No, they are correct. Up refers to trains towards Sydney Central station, down refers to trains away from Sydney Central, not north and south. See Railways in Sydney#Terminology. Quaidy 10:13, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
But someone selling a house in Waverton and moving to Gordon would say they were moving "up Shore"! In the interests of not confusing people, it might be better to either remove those labels, or to change them to "Up line" and "Down line" or something less likely to be confused with the "Upper/Lower North Shore" use. -- Danny Yee 08:41, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
I've lived on the North Shore my whole life, but spent 30 seconds confused by the Artarmon Station diagram until I worked out what was happening. -- Danny Yee 08:44, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] quadrification from St Leonards to Chatswood

I understand that the plan is to quadrify the line from Chatswood to St Leonards, as part of a new Redfern Chatswood line. Should that be mentioned in this article? (I'm also curious what people think the chances of this going ahead are, and the likely timeframe, as I'm looking at real estate adjoining the line in Artarmon.) -- Danny Yee 08:44, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes and yes - you obviously didn't read the above comments on that, did you? JROBBO 09:42, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stations table

After being accused of being a vandal, I thought I'd raise this here. I think that the large station table on this and other Cityrail pages is too big and directory like for an encyclopaedia page. Would anyone read it? It seems a rehash of information that could easily be found on the official Cityrail website. Thoughts (with civility please)? Endarrt 01:50, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

It's a concise list of stations, with, among other things, the opening dates, the distance from Central and the interchanges - none of which apart from the last one would be found on the CityRail website. It's not a rehash of information. JRG 12:51, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Frequency of closure for repairs

Would it be acceptable to mention on this page the frequency of downtime on the line, as it is closed for repairs and replaced with buses almost one out of three weekends? --58.168.70.237 (talk) 06:02, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stopping patterns section

This section seems to be a duplication of what is directly above in the station table. I propose it be removed. Thoughts? (More than one User would be nice). Endarrt (talk) 03:56, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
