Norfolk Stakes (United States)

The Norfolk Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run at Santa Anita Park in California during the Oak Tree Racing Association meet each year. First run in 1970, it was formerly a Grade I event but eventually became a Grade II near the end of the 1990s. However, the American Graded Stakes Committee announced its return to Grade I status for 2007.
The Norfolk is open to two-year-old horses willing to race one and one-sixteenth miles on the dirt and the race carries a purse of $250,000. It is also one of the last preps for two-year-olds before the Breeders' Cup races in October. Jockey Alex Solis has won the Norfolk Stakes six times.
