Nivå is a town in the municipality of Fredensborg on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. Nivå is a residential town on the coast of the Øresund. It has a stop on the CopenhagenHelsingør Kystbanen rail line.

The town has a small shopping centre which also includes a library, a railway station, a marina and the Nivaagaards museum. The town possesses two schools; Centralskole and Niverødgaardsskolen, whilst a golf course lies to the West. Its landscape is varied and ranges from marshland to suburban habitations. 20% or more of the inhabitants have a foreign background.

Nivå Musiklaug holds an annual festival at the Kalvehaven, where a lot of the young musical talent get a chance to play. Amongst the performers playing at the 2006 festival were Danish singer-songwriter Tobias Trier.

Amongst the musicians living in Nivå is the guitarist and songwriter "Benny (musician)".

[edit] Nivaagaards Malerisamling

Nivaagaards Malerisamling was opened by Johannes Whiskers in 1908. The house is situated in an extensive park and is full of different varieties of rhododendron. The museum houses art from the Italian and North European renaissance and the Dutch and Danish grotesque.

[edit] Nivaagaard Ringovns Teglværksmuseum

Nivaagaard Ringovns was opened in 1700 by Queen Louise establishing small brickworks near the shore in Nivå. The workshop supplied furnishing brick to they royal bygningsværker in Copenhagen and Nordsjælland by 1720. Alfred Hage took over in 1862. In 1870 a circular fire house was constructed inspired by the plans by Friedrich Hoffmann. This was the beginning of the industrial revolution in Northern Europe. The oven was used for 97 years up until 1967. The workshop closed in 1980 then opened as a museum.
