Nistreana Wine Region is a wine region in Moldova.
The southeastern (Purcari) zone stretches along the Western Dniester coast. Here is the Purcari winemaking center is situated, made famous by its red wines: Rosu de Purcari and Negru de Purcari. The climatic conditions are favourable to the cultivation of red grape sorts: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rara Neagră, which serve as the basis for the production of aged wines. These wines distinguish themselves by their perfect harmonious taste and rich bouquet with aromas of morocco, black currant, violet and noble oak.
At the end of the XIX century the Purcari wines were supplied to the English royal court.
