Nijrab District

The Nijrab District is situated in the central part of Kapisa Province, Afghanistan. It is located in a green valley supported by the springs from Hindu Kush mountains and about 120 km north of Kabul. It borders Mahmud Raqi and Koh Band districts to the west, Parvan Province to the north, Laghman Province and Alasay District to the east and Tagab District to the south. The population is 99,600 (2006) with a multiethnic composition - Tajik, Pashtun and Pashayee. The district center is Nijrab(Nejrab), located in the southern part of the district.
This district has a big number villages, which can be grouped into five big valleys. The wars had not affected Nijrab District. People are getting their water from springs and rivers. Agriculture, animal husbandry and daily wages form the incomes. The health care needs serious improvement. As the district weather is warm, there are many insects and animals like snakes and scorpions in this district.
There are high and primary schools in the district.
