Nigel Melville

Nigel David Melville (born 6 January 1961) is a former rugby union player, one of the few players to captain the England national rugby union team on his debut appearance. Many believe, had his career not been troubled with terrible injuries (including a serious neck injury, shoulder damage, five knee operations and a chipped ankle, plus more), he could have become England's greatest scrum-half. After a good club career with Otley R.U.F.C., Wakefield RFC and Wasps FC, Nigel retired to coach in 1988.
As Director of Rugby at Wasps R.F.C., Nigel coached the team to their first professional Premiership title in 1996, followed by three National Cup Final appearances, winning two. In 2002 he moved to Gloucester Rugby, winning the Zurich Championship Final, Powergen Cup and topped the Zurich Premiership table by a record 15 clear points.
During his playing career, Nigel was the Head of UK Promotions for Nike working alongside elite athletes from a wide range of sports.
He now works with businesses and sporting organizations helping them to enhance their full ability.
Nigel was appointed the new CEO and President of Rugby Operations for USA Rugby on October 11, 2006.
