Ngee Ann Primary School

Ngee Ann Primary School (simplified Chinese: 义安小学) is a government-aided co-educational primary school in Marine Parade, Singapore.

It was founded by the Ngee Ann Kongsi's Board of Directors which is comprised of Mr Lee Wee Nam, Mr Yeo Chan Boon, Mr Lim Kim Seng and a few other members who set up the Ngee Ann Girl's School in 1940, which was the first Chinese Girl's school in Singapore, before converting to a mixed school by accepting male students in 1967.

Its establishment was originally the bungalow of a Kongsi member built in River Valley road, but later in 1984 the school relocated its premises to Marine Terrace, in the eastern region of Singapore.

With the increasing number of students reaching a figure of approximately 2000, the school moved to a temporary holding school in Katong Road in 1998 while Singapore's Ministry of Education demolished the original establishment and built a new one on-site with more facilities to cope with demands of the growing number of students. in December 2000, the school re-opened and the Grand re-opening was held on the 21st of November 2002 with (then) Prime Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong as the guest-of-honour. The current establishment is coated in white paint and has 6 floors, a parade square, a hall, an auditorium, an average of 12 class rooms per floor and an empty large room at the 5th floor named the 'Shine Studio' where some co-ciricular activities are held. They have a multi-storreyed library and a roof access via the Chinese Orchestra room. The canteen is located next to the parade square which can also be entered by the carpark.

The school specializes in Chinese Orchestra and other Music Arts such as Choir and various Dance groups; in the 2006 Singapore Youth Festival, it managed to seize gold with Honours for both the Chinese Orchestra and the Chinese Dances.
