[edit] Route description
Route 355 begins at an intersection with New York State Route 66 in Poestenkill. The highway proceeds eastward, passing to the south of residential homes and Moules Pond. Route 335 is known for most of its length as Cooper Hill Road as it heads eastward towards downtown Poestenkill. County Route 130 merges in from the northeast and the route changes names to Spring Avenue. (County Route 130 was former Touring Route 154.) Route 355 continues, passing to the north of Rensselaer County Airpark. Route 355 terminates at an intersection with New York State Route 351 and County Route 40 in downtown Poestenkill.[2]
[edit] History
Route 355 was assigned by 1952 along Cooper Hill Road and Wynantskill Road.[3] Prior to May 14, 1980, NY 355 ended at the former NY 154 1.8 miles to the west of downtown Poestenkill. When NY 154 was decommissioned, NY 355 assumed that portion of former NY 154.[4] Reference markers for NY 154 remain on that route segment.[1]
