[edit] Route description
NY 117 begins at NY 117 in the village of Mount Kisco as South Bedford Road. It then travels east into the town of Bedford heading toward the hamlet of Bedford Village. Along the way, it has an interchange with Interstate 684 (at Exit 4). At Bedford Village, it overlaps with New York State Route 22 for about a mile. NY 172 then continues east as Pound Ridge Road into the town of Pound Ridge. It ends at New York State Route 137 in the hamlet of Pound Ridge.
[edit] History
NY 172 was established in the 1930 state highway renumbering. Originally, it only extended between Mount Kisco and Bedford Village. The section east of NY 22 was then a county road. By 1946, the state took over maintenance of Pound Ridge Road and the NY 172 designation was extended along it.[citation needed]
