New Mexico District 1 of the United States House of Representatives is a Congressional district that serves the central area of New Mexico, in and around Albuquerque. The current Representative from District 1 is Republican Heather Wilson.

Until the 1968 elections, New Mexico's representatives were all elected at-large state-wide. Starting in 1969, however, they were elected by districts. (See New Mexico's At-large congressional district.)

For the 2008 election: former New Mexico Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil-Giron, Albuquerque City Councilor Martin Heinrich, Albuquerque attorney Robert Pidcock, and former state Health Secretary Michelle Lujan Grisham are seeking the Democratic nomination. Among Republicans longtime state Senator Joseph Carraro, and Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White are candidates.[1][2]
