State Route 140 is a state highway in the states of Oregon and Nevada, USA. This article describes the state highway within Nevada.
State Route 140 is a southeast-northwest highway connecting U.S. Route 95 north of Winnemucca to State Route 292 in Denio. From there it runs northwest until it becomes Oregon Route 140 in Oregon, heading towards Adel, Oregon.
According to a 1978 Nevada State Highway map[2], State Route 140 was supposed to be renumbered State Route 291 in the attempt to simplify Nevada's highway numbering system. This apparently never came into fruition, and the highway remained State Route 140.
