Although the film fictionally took place in a town in the U.S., much of the cast is not American by nationality: Russell Crowe is Australian born in New Zealand; Colm Meaney is Irish; Lolita Davidovich is a Canadian of Yugoslavian descent (her father is from Belgrade and her mother is from Slovenia); Maury Chaykin is part Canadian and some of his lineage stems from Russia; — while Ryan Northcott, Kevin Durand, Jason Gray-Stanford, Adam Beach, Cameron Bancroft, Rachel Wilson, Terry David Mulligan, Mike Myers, Jim Fox, Phil Esposito and Barry Melrose are all Canadian.
