Princess Mononoke: Music from the Motion Picture is the soundtrack to Hayao Miyazaki's 1997 film, Princess Mononoke. The music was composed by Joe Hisaishi, the soundtrack composer for nearly all of Miyazaki's productions. Miyazaki wrote the lyrics of the two vocal tracks, The Tatara Women Work Song and the Theme Song. The Theme Song is around four minutes longer on the Japanese edition and is sung in Japanese by Yoshikazu Mera; the English version is performed by Sasha Lazard. The music was performed by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Hiroshi Kumagai. The international album cover shows a coin with San's image imprinted on it; and an alternate Japanese cover shows Ashitaka aiming his bow while riding Yakul.
A second recording was later released called Princess Mononoke: Symphonic Suite by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Mario Klemens. This soundtrack featured fewer tracks but longer compositions.
