Murule

Murule, are Somali people with origins from a branch of Hawiye clan of the larger Somalia, living at the tip of the Kenya's North Eastern province, bordering Ethiopia and Somalia. They also live Gedo and Jubba River regions of Somalia.
Murule come from the larger Gugundhabe sub-clan of the Hawiyes of Somalia. Gugundhabe is composed of Murule, Baadicadde Jajeele and Gaaljecel they live in the larger Hiiraan region of Somalia. Other sons of Gugundhabe are Jiidle, Jidible, Jiryar, Jilideen and Degodia.
The Murule's history in Kenya dates back close to 120 years after they migrated with their livestock from Somalia and settled in the tip of Kenya's, Mandera District in or around 1895.
The vast majority of the Murules live in the town of Mandera town, Arabia, Lafey, Fino, Waranqara, Elwak, Wargadud, Rhamu, Hareri, and Lebihiya. From the plains of Bambiyaryar to the fertile strip of Qorijab to the tips of Cirey labanass mountains to the banks of Dawa river etc, Murules are known for their nomadic and pastoralist activities.
