Murlough Bay in County Antrim, Northern Ireland was the burial place chosen by Roger Casement, prior to his death, known as Sir Roger Casement he was executed for treason by the British in August 1916, he was an Irish patriot, poet, revolutionary and nationalist by inclination. He was a British diplomat by profession and is famous for his activities against human rights abuses in the Congo and Peru, but more well known for his dealings with Germany prior to Ireland's Easter Rising in 1916. Every August there is a small memorial held in his honour at Murlough. The bay itself is a place of true beauty. With views across the ocean to Rathlin Island, the Mull of Kintyre and various other Scottish Islands. There is always something special put in your heart when you visit this place.
