[edit] Things I am thinking about writing
[edit] Steamboat routes
[edit] Lewis River
Have a few sources, but am collecting links, images, etc.
- loggers on the sternwheel scow Spielei, somewhere on the Lewis River
- another image of the same group on the Spielei
[edit] Duwamish, Green and White Rivers
Here's an on-line source for the White River steamboats:
- White River Journal accessed 1/27/08
[edit] Snohomish and Skykomish rivers
Totally uncovered by Wikipedia, this little phase of history needs to be brought forth. This little sidewheeler Alki (Chinook jargon for "by and by") needs an article all her own. Some image links against the day when an article should be finally complete.
[edit] Lake Sammamish and Sammamish River
Steamboat May Blossom and cow on bank. Needs an article!
[edit] Lake Coeur d'Alene
A very big topic, and not well-covered in the sources. Some image links for the eventual article:
- Amelia Wheaton, 1880s?
- steamer Colfax (on Lake Couer d'Alene?) | Colfax again | another view of Colfax
- Spokane at a dock
- Idaho
[edit] Lake Pend Oreille
[edit] Klamath Lake
[edit] Stikine River (All-Canadian route to Yukon)
This was boomed as the All-Canadian route to the the Yukon Goldfields, as an alternative to the Skagway/White Pass route which necessarily passed through U.S. territory. It involved taking a steamboat up the very difficult to navigate Stikine River and then an overland march through very rough territory to the gold fields. It never worked out. ("Stikine River? We don't need no Stikine River!") and it needs a Wikipedia article. Against the time when such can be written, here is a link, maybe two, to some images that might be of interest:
[edit] Miscellaneous stuff
[edit] Juanita (launch)
- Horace Holbrook's launch Juanita in Deception Pass
- Juanita, by now a motor launch, overloaded with passengers
- motor launch Juanita in Deception Pass, showing tiny size of vessel
[edit] Willapa (steamship)
This old tub needs her own article for a lot of reasons which are too long to write now. Some image links in case that ever happens:
