[edit] Plot
A young girl (Sridevi) meets with an accident, sustains head injuries, loses her memory and regresses mentally to the state of a young child. Through devious circumstances she is sold into prostitution in the city of New Delhi, but is rescued by a naive, kind-hearted school teacher (Kamal Hassan) on a holiday trip. Unable to identify her origin, he shelters and looks after his ward in his residence in the scenic highland Ooty where he is posted to teach. The film culminates with the amnesiac recuperating and regaining her pre-accident memory but retaining no recollection of the intervening events, including any memory of her teacher-carer.
