Montgomery County Community College, also known as MCCC, Montco, or MC3, is a 2-year community college offering associate degrees and technical certification in numerous fields. It also offers non-credit courses to the general public. MCCC is accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
The college was founded in 1964 and offered classes from its campus in Conshohocken. In 1972, the main campus opened in nearby Blue Bell where it remains today. There is also a satellite campus in Pottstown which opened in 1996. Off-site locations include Lansdale and Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Horsham.
Funding for the college comes from state and county funds, as well as from student tuition.
While primarily serving the residents of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, the institution is also attended by residents of neighboring Philadelphia County and Bucks County as well as foreign exchange students. It has agreements with Temple University, Pennsylvania State University, Arcadia University, and other local institutions to facilitate the transfer of credits earned.
High school graduates often attend MCCC to delay the expenses of undergraduate education and to improve their transcripts for acceptance to more selective universities.
