Det. Monique Jeffries was a fictional character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, played by Michelle Hurd.

Jeffries was a police detective with Manhattan's 16th Precinct, which investigated sex crimes. Early in the show she was partnered with various detectives such as Det. Brian Cassidy and Det. Ken Briscoe, but would be permanently partnered with Det. John Munch towards the end of the first season, replacing Cassidy as Munch's partner.
[edit] Character evolution
Shortly after she is teamed with Munch, Jeffries is injured when a car explodes while she and Munch are investigating a case. This incident leaves her vulnerable, and she has a one night stand with a man she knows to be a suspect in a sexual assault case the unit had investigated.
In the episode "Slaves," she confesses the incident to a department psychiatrist, who is working for a commission investigating problems in various police units. Jeffries is taken off active police duty until she could receive treatment for her problems. Her place in the squad is taken by Det. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola, and she is the first in the squad to speak with him when he reports for duty. Jeffries introduces herself and offers to help him when he enters the unit, and finds out he is her replacement when she looks at his file.
Jeffries finds desk duty intolerable, and blames Cragen for supporting the commission's decision. In the episode "Asunder," she resigns and sues the department for discrimination.
Jeffries is eventually reinstated and transferred to the NYPD's Vice Squad. She would appear on the show one last time in the second-season episode "Runaway," in which she helps her former colleagues locate the runaway daughter of a fellow police officer.
