Mona McCluskey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mona McCluskey aka Meet Mona McCluskey was an American sitcom that appeared on NBC as part of its 1965-1966 schedule. The series starred Juliet Prowse as Mona McCluskey, a movie actress who marries an Air Force officer, Mike McCluskey, played by Denny Scott Miller. The major premise of the show would be Mona trying to balance her acting career with her marriage to Mike, who preferred that they live on his smaller Air Force salary. The series would last for 26, 30-mins black-and-white episodes, from September 16, 1965 to April 14, 1966.

This one-year series would co-star Herbert Rudley, who would later become better known as Eve Arden's husband in the sitcom The Mothers-in-Law as General Crone, Mike's boss; Robert Strauss, who had earlier appeared in the black comedy Stalag 17 as Sergeant Gruzewsky; Bartlett Robinson as Frank Cadwell, and Alice Henderson as Elena Verdugo. Series guest stars would include Maurice Marsac; Lee Bergere, who would later play majordomo Joseph Anders on Dynasty; Gene Tyburn; Sal Mineo, who had earlier appeared with James Dean in the film, Rebel Without a Cause and would later be murdered; Barry Kelley, who had appeared in the film The Asphalt Jungle; Doris Singleton (at present one of the last two recurring cast members from the television series I Love Lucy still alive), and Darlene Patterson.

The series was produced for NBC by McCadden Enterprises, Inc. in association with United Artists Television Production, Inc. The series executive producer was comedian George Burns. The series appeared on Thursday nights against ABC's Peyton Place and the second half hour of CBS's two-hour Thursday night movie. The series failed to win its its time slot and was cancelled by NBC, with its last episode having appeared in April 1966.
