Molo, Kenya

Molo is a town in western Kenya. It is served by a branch off Kenya Railways earlier the Uganda Railway ,the East African Railways Corporation until 1977. Molo hosts a town council and an administrative division in the Nakuru District of Rift Valley Province. The town has an urban population of 21,000 and a total population of 89,594 (1999 census [1]).
St. Andrews School, Turi, an international boarding school, is located in Turi, a Railroad Station centre about 10 kilometres towards the east of Molo.
Molo lays by the Kenya's largest forest, the Mau Forest (approx 36% of country forests) which moves along the Mau Escarpment. It is known as one of the coolest places along the Rift Valley province of Kenya. This has enhanced the growth of Pyrethrum, considered a cash crop for the region. However the forest has also attracted a massive Timber poachery. The government has since declared all forests in the whole country contained for an unlimited period. Only imported timber is (presumably) used as from 2002.
According to the Kenyan National Potato Policy, Molo is the second largest producer of potatoes in Kenya. Baraka farmers training college is located just outside Molo
