Mitchell Cary Alford

Mitchell Cary Alford (1855-1914) was Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky.

Alford was born in Fayette County, Kentucky and he graduated from the Transylvania University Law School in 1880. Following his graduation from Law School, he served as the Master Commissioner for Fayette County before becoming a State Senator.

In 1891, he was elected on the Democratic ticket as Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky under the first Governor John Young Brown with whom he served a full four years.

Following the end of his term as Lieutenant Governor, he became the treasurer of the Phoenix Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky.
