The tournament’s main focus was to address the traditional eastern popularity of the sport and develop and attract players in Missouri’s developing lacrosse community.
The tournament has been a part of the recruitment of mid-western high school student athletes to eastern NCAA teams—many of whom return to play with their respective program—as well as the induction of Fontbonne University as the first NCAA lacrosse program in Missouri.
Fontbonne University defeated Wittenberg University with a 11-7 victory.
