The Miracle Mile Shopping Center opened in November 1954, and it was practically Monroeville's only shopping center from the day it opened until the Monroeville Mall opened its doors in July 1969.
It has had tenants such as Chick-fil-A, Kaufmann's, Kroger, JCPenney, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Panera Bread, Ponderosa Steakhouse, and Radio Shack. Across William Penn Highway is another part of the shopping center, and it has or had Office Depot, Lone Star Steakhouse, and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. A bowling alley called Miracle Lanes has the auto repair space that Goodyear used until they moved to the mall when Gimbels closed their auto center business, and Firestone, located in front of it, is in the building that the Penneys Auto Center (which used their own tools) occupied back in the Seventies.
