Miquita Oliver - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miquita Oliver

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miquita Oliver (born 25 April 1984) is a British television presenter. Born in Paddington, London, her mother is former Rip Rig & Panic singer and television presenter Andrea Oliver.[1]

While still studying for her GCSEs she became presenter of Channel 4 music show Popworld in 2001, co-presenting with Simon Amstell. The pair were known for employing a great deal of sarcasm when interviewing their guests.[2] She frequently fronts the T4 strand. In February 2006 it was announced that the duo would finish their run presenting the programme in April of that year.

She has previously hosted shows on both BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1's digital black music sister station 1xtra, notably covering for Sara Cox and Spoony. After winning the Maxim Hot Thighs of the Year award, she left her early morning show Oneclick to focus on TV projects. During her appearance on the TV show 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks', Miquita implied that she was fired from BBC Radio One following a comment she made in an interview with NME magazine, about Fearne Cotton, calling her a "Devil Woman". In 2006 she featured in the Music Video "All about Knowing" by Mark S. Taylor.

Miquita made a brief appearance in May 2007 on the BBC program "Neneh & Andi Dish It Up". Miquita is a guest at a massive barnyard barbecue hosted by her mother Andrea Oliver and Neneh Cherry.

She appeared as a panellist on the TV show Never Mind The Buzzcocks (which is hosted by her former co-presenter on PopWorld; Simon Amstell) aired on 13 December 2007.

Miquita is known to be best friends with Lily Allen but her other famous friends include the likes of Patrick Wolf and Simon Amstell.
