[edit] License tagging for Image:Surfcitync.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Surfcitync.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:06, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for telling what that coin was. I've been wondering what it was for a while. Have a nice day! Johann...[ T...C ] 04:34, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: Jacob Johnson

The page was vandalized on the 29th and converted to an entirely non-notable, unsourced and possibly fictional obituary. My guess is that the deleting admin didn't notice that there was valid content underneath the vandalism. I have restored the full article and reverted the vandalism. If you're not already watchlisting this article, you probably should. Thanks. Rossami (talk) 23:38, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removing messages on your talk page

Welcome to Wikipedia. While we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, removing user warning templates on your talk page is considered a form of vandalism. These warnings are not put on your talk page to annoy you; they were placed here because other editors have noticed an issue with your behaviour that may require improvement. They are a method of communication and user talk pages stand as a record of communication with you. If you do not believe the warning was valid or have a question about improving your behaviour you can respond here or visit the help desk. Thank you! —Vanderdeckenξφ 14:44, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Hehe, it was an automated message (although given by me). You are allowed to edit your own talk page, but doing so to remove warnings given to you is considered bad etiquette. If your talk page gets too long, try archiving it. I also notice you haven't been welcomed yet, so here you go. See you around. —Vanderdeckenξφ 14:56, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, not everyone gets welcomed, it's not automatic. While I'm pootling around the 'pedia I just keep an eye open for people with no/short talk pages (who are likely to not have been welcomed) and give them the template below. It's very useful, I wish I'd had one as elaborate as that when I started. —Vanderdeckenξφ 15:01, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey

I made some changes to the Luigi Colani page, and you left a message to my IP address saying that it was nonsense. The fact is that the more I read Wikipedia, the more tempted I am towards vandalism. This is because many Wikipedians seem rather dull and humourless to me: they're invariably obsessed with the authorship of articles, and always seem to be bitching and squabbling. It seems that the ego of many "editors" comes before the project. The general level of literacy is also pretty bad, and after a while one just feels like buggering about with the thing. Of course I appreciate the fact that people like you come along and clean up after people like me have fooled around, but sometimes a little humour is just what this goddamn encyclopedia needs. Incidentally, the article I messed with was totally amateur and bloody awful anyway.

If you look, it still is.

Cheers!

[edit] Jacob Johnson

Hi Mike, I was actually hoping to move the Jacob Johnson article to a more specific name (as mentioned on the talk page) and then move Jacob Johnson (disambiguation) to Jacob Johnson. (The reason I haven't yet is because I'm not sure of what to put in the brackets after his name to describe him best!) -- Chuq (talk) 04:34, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for that! I've just finished it off by moving Jacob Johnson (disambiguation) to Jacob Johnson, since it is preferable to avoid an article title with "(disambiguation)" in it. Regards -- Chuq (talk) 13:31, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 01:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Brock twp coa.gif

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Brock twp coa.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:04, 13 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. OsamaKBOT 22:04, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for adding that link to Brock High on the Sunderland and Cannigton pages. Now people can find out about Brock High. Thanks again!--Leamarie411x2 23:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brock twp coa.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Brock twp coa.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:12, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New policy proposal that may be of interest

I'm tapping this message out to you because you were involved at the AfDs of Eve Carson or Lauren Burk. Following both of these heated debates, a new proposal has been made for a guideline to aid these contentious debates, which can be found at WP:N/CA. There is a page for comments at Wikipedia talk:Notability (criminal acts)/Opinions should you wish to make a comment. Thanks for your time, and apologies if this was not of interest!
