[edit] Mazinger contributions

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but thank you for your contact. I think that the Mazinger pages on the whole are pretty solid, although the Mikene generals could possibly stand to include some more information on their relations with one another, if those were significant (my knowledge of Great Mazinger isn't that deep). I also think it'd be a good idea to include more information on changes to the characters in imported versions, like the bit about Dr. Hell being portrayed as his twin brother in some inceptions of Great Mazinger. If I have any other ideas I'll let you know. Thank you for asking for my input. Gladrius 23:16, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Grendizer

Hi, I'm currently starting a Duke Fleed page and I'm wondering if Grendizer characters should qualify as Mazinger characters ? Thanks.Max Thayer 10:13, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your advice. I thought you had created the Mazinger navigation box. Could you tell me who did ? Thanks. I'm created a "Grendizer series characters" category, as the Grendizer universe is somewhat separate from the Mazinger one, but I'm not 100% sure it's useful. Maybe the Grendizer characters should be merged in the "Mazinger series characters" category. As far as I know, Go Nagai only added Kouji and occasionnally Boss to Grendizer because he was asked to, but it's still technically a Mazinger sequel, even if Great Mazinger only appears in a spin-off and Mazinger Z in a flash-back. Max Thayer 09:45, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

That's excellent ! I actually thought about asking you for a modification of the infobox. I'll try to find the time to create new pages these days or at least next week. I'm not entirely positive that Grendizer should be added to the Mazinger main infobox, but technically it's a sequel. As you apparently don't know the cartoon very well : the only link with Mazinger is the presence (in every episode) of Kouji Kabuto and (for a couple appearences) Boss. Go Nagai was reportedly asked by his publisher to add Kouji to the cast of characters and was not too happy about it. Indeed, Kouji never pilots Mazinger Z (even though he'd be quite useful against the alien invasion) and the robot only appears in a very brief flash-back, without explanation, in the first episode. As for the spin-off Grendizer vs Great Mazinger, it has the vegans stealing Great Mazinger from the museum it was exhibited in (!) and fighting Grendizer with it. Kouji takes control of Great Mazinger at the end to save the day. Unless I am mistaken, no other mention of Mazinger is ever made and Tetsuya never appears. Moreover, Nagai often has Kouji look like a dunce as he always gets into trouble with his lousy flying saucer and Duke Fleed has to rescue him. Some fans have speculated that Nagai, being unhappy to be forced to include Kouji, wanted to somewhat humiliate him. Anyway, despite these lapses in logic, Grendizer is still a "Mazinger sequel", if only for Kouji's presence so it might qualify for the main Mazinger infobox. Max Thayer 07:42, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

It might not be explicit, but most of the fandom I've come in contact with considers Grendizer part of the Mazinger series, and thus Duke Fleed would be considered a Mazinger character. I think the people who make it think so too, with the videogames Mazinger Z and Grendizer appear in. I'd like to help, although admittedly my knowledge of Grendizer is mostly secondhand. All I've actually seen is the first two episodes of the American version, so I don't know how much use I'd be if Max hasn't carried out his project already. I'll talk to him about it, though. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Aphrodite-A.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Aphrodite-A.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
