Michael Taylor (born September 21, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan), is a former All-American linebacker who played for the University of Michigan Wolverines from 1969-1971 and for the New York Jets from 1974-1979. Taylor made 316 tackles in three years playing for Bo Schembechler's teams, including 132 tackles in 1971. He was a unanimous All-American selection in 1971. The University of Michigan's Bentley Historical Library says of Taylor: "Extremely effective against running plays and still made several interceptions from middle linebacking position. Considered one of Michigan's finest linebackers." In 2005, Taylor was selected as one of the 100 greatest Michigan football players of all time by the "Motown Sports Revival," ranking 89th on the all-time team.[1]
