Michael Bueskens, also known as Mike Büskens, is a former German football player and is now FC Schalke 04 Manager.
Bueskens began his career with Alemannia Duesseldorf, before he moved to Fortuna Duesseldorf. After five year with Fortuna he moved to VfL Benrath, then in 1987 he returned to Fortuna Duesseldorf to play for the professional squad. After five years moved to FC Schalke 04. Which were the most successful years of his football career. He was part of the 1997 UEFA cup winners squad and the 2001 and 2002 DFB cup winners.
In 2000 he played half a year for MSV Duisburg, however returned to Schalke after Duisburg’s poor season. The last three years of his career he played for the FC Schalke 04 second squad, where he was also Assistant Manager. In 2005 he succeeded Gerhard Kleppinger as a coach of the second squad.
On 13th April 2008 Bueskens was appointed manager of FC Schalke 04 along with Youri Mulder succeeding Mirko Slomka after Schalkes 5:1 loss to Bremen which could potentially jeopardise Schalke's opportunities for a postion in the Champions League in 2008/2009.
He will remain manager until the end of the 2007/08 season. Schalke will then be managed by Fred Rutten after the summer.
