[edit] Voicetracking
voice-tracking is a popular industry method of providing higher quality air talent to radio stations that would otherwise have to use cheap national syndication in order to keep operating. The company uses voice-tracking on some of its stations. By using this technology, the company can increase productivity and allow current DJ's within the Company the ability to earn extra income. The strength of using voice-tracking technology over other methods (like syndication) is that most DJ's that voice track do so locally within their own market. Thus they know the market, make appearances for both the station they are live on and the station they are tracking and have the opportunity to earn a better income. The lower billing stations that have voice tracking rather than live full time DJ's must do so in order to avoid losing money.
[edit] Note
Midwest Communications should not be confused with the these similarly-named companies:
- Midwest Radio and Television, former owners of WCCO radio and television in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota, plus WFRV-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin and WJMN-TV in Escanaba, Michigan; all stations were later sold to CBS
- Mid-West Family Broadcasting, an independently-owned broadcasting company based in Madison, Wisconsin
