Michaël Basser Chrétien (born July 10, 1984 in Nancy) is a French-Moroccan professional football player. Born to a Moroccan father and a French mother, the right-sided fullback plays for AS Nancy.
Chrétien has only ever played for his local club, having been linked with AS Nancy since the age of five. After leaving for two years to attend the Medina academy in Meuse, FC Metz and AJ Auxerre showed an interest in signing him, but he chose to remain loyal to Nancy. However, it was not until February 2004 that he signed his first professional contract with the club, despite making his league debut in November 2002. When he played for Nancy he used his mother's maiden name Chrétien, but when representing Morocco, he use his father's surname Basser.
His current contract last until 30 June 2010.
[edit] International career
A French youth international, Chrétien earned his first call-up from his father's native Morocco in a friendly against Tunisia, 7 February 2007.
