[edit] Trivia

  • The role of Anghelita was originally given to Ella Guevara. But since Ella was already part of the main cast of Impostora, the role was given to Krystal Reyes instead.
  • The show marked the first time former sweethearts Paolo Contis and Isabel Oli would be appearing on the same show after their much-publicized breakup. The two had been together in numerous shows in the past such as Love to Love and Atlantika.
  • The show was spoofed by Bubble Gang in its August 17, 2007 episode. It was entitled Mga Tenga ni Panghelita.
  • The show marked the second time that Krystal Reyes worked with Carmina Villaroel, Mark Herras (both from Princess Charming) and Sheryl Cruz (from Bakekang).
  • Solcar's name is actually an anagram of his alter ego Mayor Carlos's name.
  • The Mexican TV Station Televisa will broadcast the show in Mexico this year with the title "Los Ojos de Angelita".

[edit] Soundtrack

The theme song is entitled Nang Dahil Sa Iyo (Because of You), which was sung by Pinoy Pop Superstar: Season 3 grand champion Maricris Garcia and composed by Tata Betita.

[edit] Origins

Mga Mata ni Angelita was written by Ricardo Feliciano and became a number one hit radio drama from 1974 to 1978. It was made into a film by Larry Santiago Productions and catapulted the late Julie Vega into fame.

The film was a phenomenal hit when it premiered in 1978, mainly because of its big name stars such as Ramon Revilla, Helen Gamboa, Dolphy, Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, the late Fernando Poe Jr., Christopher De Leon, Alma Moreno, Rez Cortez, Paquito Diaz, and Eddie Rodriguez, to name a few.[6]
