Melchiah is a video game character in the Legacy of Kain series. He was voiced by Michael Bell.[1]
[edit] Sarafan life
Melchiah lived over 500 years before the start of the first game.[2] He became one of the Inquisitors of the Sarafan Order.[3] He was among those who stormed Janos Audron's keep and aided in his murder. After helping to kill Janos, Melchiah was slain by a future version of his fellow Sarafan Raziel. After his death, Melchiah was interred in the Sarafan's holy tomb.

Centuries later, Melchiah was risen from the Sarafan crypt as Kain's youngest son. He was given clan territory next to Raziel's. As he was the last to be risen, Melchiah was the weakest of Kain's sons and, although immortal, the dark gift was unable to sustain his flesh, which continued to decay.
As the centuries progressed, Melchiah evolved/degenerated into a putrid, lumbering mass of rotting flesh. His tentative connection to the world of the living seemed to allow him to shift halfway into the spirit world, and pass through insubstantial barriers such as gates. After devouring the blood of his victims, Melchiah would have their flesh stitched onto his own, rotting body. As a result of his weakness, Melchiah's zombie-like spawn, the melchiahim, also retained his inability to sustain their flesh. Despite his being the weakest of Kain's children, Melchiah was the only vampire ever known to shift between realms without dying. Melchiah's children were forced to exhume bodies and use the flesh of the corpses to sustain themselves.
Raziel fought Melchiah and made use of the machine Melchiah used to slaughter his victims to kill his little brother. Upon devouring Melchiah's soul, Raziel obtained the ability to pass through grates and barred gates while in the spectral realm.
