This type of bell has been around for over sixty years. It uses a simple clapper inside the case that, when a circuit is interrupted over and over, causes the clapper to move against the metal gong repeatedly. These bells have a shorter lifespan than their electronic counterparts and require intermittent lubrication to keep them operating at ideal levels. This bell was manufactured by Western-Cullen Hayes and is installed on a MAX line in Hillsboro, Oregon. This bell can be found on Elam Young Parkway East in Hillsboro.
