Located at 1400 Wilson Creek Parkway in McKinney, Texas, McKinney High School is within the McKinney Independent School District. The mascot is the Lion and the colors are Blue and Gold. The current building opened in 1986, after moving from what is now Faubion Middle School. The current principal is Stewart Herrington.

[edit] Royal Pride Band
The MHS Royal Pride Band is one of the largest performing groups at the school. The band's 2007 marching show is "The Tell-Tale Heart" based on the short story by Edgar Allan Poe.
The MHS Royal Pride Band competed at the UIL Region 3-4A Marching Band competition on Wednesday, October 25 at Clark Stadium in Plano and received mixed ratings, 2,2, and 1.
[edit] Mckinney High Orchestra
The orchestra started in the 2007-2008 school year and currently has 6 students.
They all participated in the solo-emsemble event and received a rating of superior.

The McKinney FFA is an organization with current Ag teachers Mr. Lacy and Mr. Lemons. The 2007 livestock judging and floriculture CDE team competed at the state level at Texas A&M University. Out of over 8 different teams competing for the state finals in CDE's and LDE's Mr. Lacy and Mr. Lemons have advanced one to state.[1]
