From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Matthieu Descoteaux (born 23 September 1977 in Pierreville, Quebec) is a professional ice hockey defenceman. Selected in the first round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, 19th overall, by the Edmonton Oilers, Descoteaux played only five games at the NHL level, all with the Montreal Canadiens, and is widely viewed as a poor first-round selection.
Descoteaux spent the majority of his career in the AHL, and also had spells in Finland, Italy and Germany. He currently plays in the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey for the Thetford Mines Isothermic.
[edit] Transactions
- March 9, 2000 - Descoteaux traded from Edmonton to Montreal with Christian Laflamme in exchange for Igor Ulanov and Alain Nasreddine.
