Matt Pettinger (born October 22, 1980 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a professional ice hockey left winger who currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.

[edit] Playing career
Pettinger was drafted in the 2nd round, 43rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Before his professional career, Pettinger played a season and half for the University of Denver Pioneers before joing the WHL's Calgary Hitmen.
On February 26, 2008, Pettinger was traded from the Washington Capitals to the Vancouver Canucks for Matt Cooke.

He was once traded by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks as a 2nd round draft pick to the Washington Capitals for their 2nd round draft pick who turned out to be Ilya Bryzgalov during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
At the 2008 NHL Trade Deadline, the Washington Capitals forward was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in return for Matt Cooke.
