Master Control (Cartoon Network)

Master Control is a programming block on Cartoon Network, replacing Miguzi. The block premiered on Monday, September 24, 2007. The voting started on September 17, 2007 to have a show on the first day of the block. The block allows viewers to vote via Internet for Cartoon Network shows. The block airs from 4-6 PM with the winning-team pick at 5:30PM (Eastern and Pacific). The 3 teams are Shadowmark, Blastadons, and Vikinators. The final episode of Master Control aired Friday, November 9, 2007. Until Master Control finds another champion to crown, the block is off the air, as announced on Cartoon Network's Master Control page.

[edit] Fictional storyline
When two comets collided above the world, debris was sent hurtling to the ground below, most of it sinking into the great volcano, Mt. Kai. Shortly thereafter the shards of debris began to morph into creatures.
[edit] Blastadons
After growing in the fires of Mt. Kai, the Blastadons emerged. All Blastadons spend years training in the heart of their ancient volcano and emerge as masters of the most powerful magic in the known universe. To prove themselves to the order, young members of the Blastadons must return to the heart of the volcano and there forge a gauntlet of fire to fuse to his or her right hand. This extreme rite of passage bonds the Blastadons to the source of their great power, the fires of Mt. Kai. They have 10 wins, making them 2nd place.

The Vikinators once served the Blastadons as their bodyguards and enforcers. But the Vikinators felt that the Blastadons had grown arrogant and tried to conquer them. They failed. Vowing revenge they broke from the Blastadons, strengthened their numbers and quickly became a force to be reckoned with. They have 4 wins, making them 3rd place.
[edit] Shadowmark
In an attempt to purge themselves of their weaknesses and become the purest and boldest warriors of their age, the Vikinators channeled all their darkness, pain and fears into their shadows and cut them off. Their shadows were then cast into an abyss and never thought of again. But the darkness was powerful and shadows grew, becoming living fear itself. They took human form and fought their way back from the edge of oblivion; thus the brotherhood of the Shadowmark was born. They wanted revenge on the Vikinators for one good reason to get them back for casting them away. They wanted revenge on the Blastadons for trying to conquer the Vikinators, their original form (before the cast away). So far they have 21 wins, giving them the 1st Master Control Cup.

The first promo introducing the Master Control logo on the network aired during the first airing of Fried Dynamite on August 31, 2007. The promo was aired at around 7:43 PM E/P during the premiere of "Chill Out, Scooby-Doo!."

The voting stage consists of accessing the Master Control site (see External links) and voting for their favorite team and choosing between 5 shows a day; available shows are change daily. The team that wins gets the show that had the most votes. With a special code a user's votes can be multiplied. The winning show will be aired in the 5:30-6:00 slot. On Friday, one may vote for all the slots from 4:00-6:00 PM, deemed as Total Control. Upon completing the voting process, the user can send some Master Control Smack Talk for the team they voted in for other viewers or visitors to see on television or online.

- October 20, 2007: Shadowmark has placed a hex so anyone who votes must enter with extreme caution.
- October 27, 2007: The hex has been broken. Frustrated by Shadowmark's dominance, the Blastadons and Vikinators form a temporary truce and band together to stop Shadowmark. Both Blastadons and Vikinators left their mark by spraying graffiti on Shadowmark's site, making a statement that their reign of destruction end here.
- November 3: The winner will be announced on Master Control.
- November 9: Shadowmark is announced Master Control Champion. Master Control signs off.
[edit] Replacement block
On Monday, November 26, 2007 a replacement block took over called Funny for Your Face, running on weekdays at 4-7PM. It shows the same shows Master Control aired during its run. Although, at 5:30, Courage the Cowardly Dog airs. This will continue until Master Control finds a new champion to crown.
