Route 101 is a north-south state highway in Massachusetts. It begins at Route 32 in Petersham, and proceeds 22.55 miles northbound to Route 119 in Ashburnham. Travelling northbound from Petersham, Route 101 passes through the towns of Phillipston, Templeton (sharing roadway with Route 2A), Gardner, and Ashburnham.
Route 101 crosses Route 2 in Templeton during its concurrency with Route 2A. This is exit 21 off Route 2.
Route 101's northern terminus is near the New Hampshire state line.
During the 1920s and early 1930s, Route 101 was a multi-state route through Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, primarily along the highway now known as U.S. Route 44.
