I am deleting the quote from Patrick O'Neil, while I agree with the quote it isn't sourced, along with the problem of advertising www.patrickoneil.com on the wiki page for Martin Tyler isn’t the correct thing to do, particularly when the aforementioned site is nothing but a poor news site/advertisement.

[edit] Bias?

Isn't this a bit biassed? And I'm not sure what's so special about the vast majority of the quotes, not least because many of them are from games where the commentary on the terrestrial coverage is going to have been the one "sticking in the public pysche".

Reading through it, I don't think this article is neutral. As you say, there isn't anything special about the quotes and there's other comments such as "well renowned", "He remains though a terrific broadcaster" etc. I'll put an NPOV tag at the top. Marks87 20:37, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
While I agree that there is a lot of bias in the article, I dont see how "well renowned" is not neutral. After all he was voted the English Premier League commentator of the decade by a panel and fans alike. He has been commentating for over 25 years.. so he must be doing something right.. He has commentated for Sky and ITV (two of the biggest TV networks in Britain). Aswell as commentating in many other countries, (such as Australia). He has also called numerous World Cups (including World Cup Finals), FA Cup Finals, Champions League Finals etc... And if you ask any fan of English football (or soccer) who Martin Tyler is.. i guarantee 99% of them will know who he is.. and as the official English Premier League Commentator of the decade poll suggests.. he is the most popular amongst fans. If that's not "well renowned" then I dont know what is. --Sahafan 12:33, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia needs you to cite sources, so:
1)perhaps someone should find a link to an article or official statement saying he won this award.
2)saying that 99% of football fans know who Tyler is, doesn't constitute citation. Again, if you have a link to a poll carried out by a respected organistation, that would be fine.
As a side note, the Sky commentator for today's "blockbuster game" is Rob Hawthorne... Marks87 15:15, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

This article will be re-stubbed shortly if proper third party sources are not provided soon. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 12:49, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fan Page

Being a fan myself of the charming nasal voice of Tyler, I must say this article is a bit of a Fan Article. It takes too long to drill down to facts, chronology is random, etc. - it's a cumbersome entry. Leading from one random mediocre bit to another, the entry remains also boring.

Friggin focus! Lead the story to somewhere. The man has broadcast WC Finals, that is what he would rave on about. See it from his point of view in the third person, then you will get to something that can at least be easily righted. FRom bulletpoints to story.
