[edit] Lyric Confusion

Deltabeignet deleted the Lyric Confusion section. I reposted it because it is necassary. Ever since its release in 1977, the song's lyrics have been disputed. Go to several internet lyric websites, or Buffett websites at that, and campare the lyrics. There will clearly be several sources that say "wastin'" and others that say "wasted". It is far from "wild" and it shouldn't require any citation. Geeky Randy 04:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

I think it's okay. They're only snippets and there is little chance of a copyvio. Thousands of places on the Internet contain all the lyrics for hundreds of thousands songs without any kind of prosecution. Since we're only including portions—and giving Buffett credit—there shouldn't be any problem. The song has a lot more lyrics that we don't include. — Frecklefoot | Talk 19:35, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

"Thousands of places on the Internet" are not Wikipedia. The amount of song that is not included here is not all that much--just two out of the three verses. Since the chorus repeats (though not exactly), close to half the song (maybe more) appears on this site. Either one verse or the chorus (not both, and not the variations in the chorus) should be included. Better yet, delete all the lyrics and include a link to a site that has explicitly been licensed by Buffett or ABC Records to publish the lyrics. 165.247.1.93 00:07, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
